You served me what??

5 Jul

Greetings all! What’s up with it still feeling like a Monday? And how do I even have a case of the Mondays on a Tuesday when I’m on semi permanent vacation?

July 4th weekend was spent at Lake Waccamaw

For those of you who have no clue where that is (i.e. me before this weekend) here is a little visual stimulation for you:

About 40 minutes from Wilmington and an hour from Myrtle Beach. I got here on Sunday afternoon and the first thing I did when I got to my friends house was change and catch her friends boat. I am all for being on a boat and need to make more friends who have one.  If someone would just invite me on their boat, I would bring food, hooch and good conversation or stories-I promise! On the boat there was an adorable Chihuahua, Macy.

She’s a poodle-chihuahua like Lincoln but looked more chihuahua than anything. I loved her little life vest she had and kept telling her that there was a hunk of a stud named Lincoln waiting for her in Florida. She didn’t seem to care for him a bit, even after I told her he has a pretty sweet pad in Boca Raton. See I can’t even get boat dogs to like me.

It felt wonderful to be on the water and it was a gorgeous day out. Lake Waccamaw is really shallow so we didn’t go too fast on the boat. When we got out to “swim”, there was no swimming since the water came up to our waist at the deepest spot. No worries though, less swimming means less chance of me spilling my beer.

We were there for about an hour then headed to my friends friends house to get some grub and dry off. I absolutely loved their neighbors house, I forgot to check out if they had a pink cadillac since it would have been the perfect topping to the flowers and house. And I was secretly hoping the lady who lived there had pink hair.

We sat on the lake and watched the fireworks. I love fireworks but once you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all.

And done with the most boring post ever. I don’t know what’s going on with me, it’s around 2pm and I’m still not mentally awake. I woke up at 1030am…..again. So that means two days of nine or more hours of sleep which never happens to me, even when I am very hungover. I don’t know what’s going on with me, why I’m so tired or can’t wake up.

Maybe it has something to do with on July 4th morning when my friend put on a pot of coffee and made me breakfast.

Sweet, right?

Not so much.

After two cups of coffee, I was still dragging. We went to go pick up one of her friends then head over to the lake and I was bitching and moaning about how tired I was. Then she muttered out something saying how the coffee at her house was decaf.

Excuse me?

Oh hell to the no. I almost took off my earrings and put some vaseline on my arms ready to scrap with her. Anyone who knows me knows I don’t do decaf. I just don’t see the point it in and hello, I am addicted to the java.  I yelled at her a little bit and I am not exaggerating when I say this, I teared up a bit. I felt like crap that morning but knew I wasn’t hungover and couldn’t understand why someone who said they were my friend would serve me something so disgusting and useless as decaf. I asked if there was a Starbucks in this town-she laughed in response. I asked if there was a Dunkin Donuts-she shot me a skeptical look. Last resort, I asked if there was a McD’s and she said they had two of them here. Game on. We went through the drive thru and I got a large iced  skim latte (which they charge you $.20 more for skim milk—eww) and all was almost right in the world again. But it was noon and I was on my first real coffee of the day, that just isn’t a good predicament for me to be in.

Sigh, I really need to kick this habit.

What’s your vice?

oh hell NO. Who even has decaf in their house??? Coffee is nothing without the kick in the pants from the caffeine.

ssshhhhh. coffee is fine. i tell myself that every day.

p.s. I completely agree with your thoughts on fireworks. yeah, they’re nice, but I don’t really get the hype. don’t you see them at least every year? meh.

My name is Abby and I’m a sugarless gum whore.
And I can’t drink coffee, but I need my (Japanese Twig) tea every day at least twice. Seriously.

I love gum but love sucking on cough drops even more…even when my throat doesn’t hurt. Wtf?

I’m SO with you on the boat thing — I’m like the Old Spice Guy announcing my presence because I get THAT jazzed about it. Almost as jazzed as I get when I realize that beer floats, and I can convince someone to rifle me one OFF the boat without fear of a Marcia Brady-type incident, and then consume said beer while swimming.

If someone served me decaf coffee, there is a high probability that I would scream. A LOT. WHAT’S THE POINT?!

the whole “I almost took my earrings out” line made me laugh out loud. And also simultaneously shake my head in agreement.
Perhaps you should rethink this friendship you speak of.

She’s apologized profusely so we are on good terms now. She offered to get me coffee…..caffeinated twice today. I heart redemption.

at least you know that the addiction is not in your mind… now that you have legit confrimation that you get cranky without the caffeine, try weaning. one real cup and 2nd cup can be half caf.

Coffee, sugar, and shopping. Three vices that I cannot get enough of. And puppy in a life vest!!! Cutest thing I’ve ever seen!

I still can’t believe it. I went into a rage when my parents couldn’t figure out why I was so upset when I asked for coffee and all they had was decaf.

They now know to keep some on hand. Or I’ll bring it with me if they don’t.

    Lesson learned. For both parties.

OMG I completely forgot about that. I dont want to live in a decaf world 😦

Decaf is POINTLESS! I think you should only be aloud to drink it if it’s medically necessary. Someone must have snuck me some this morning too…I had 2 cups and was still so sleepy.

Definitely the effects of a three day wknd!

What was it with coffee and tears this weekend? Something similar happened to me. No coffee post-run + miscommunication about said coffee = weepyness on my part. I need my caffiene, damnit!

    • simplyshaka July 5, 2011 at 11:56 pm #

Ok good I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one out there 🙂

I HAVE to have tea everyday or I am one unhappy camper. It doesn’t matter what type of tea, but I always have my favorite green tea daily.

I must agree with the fireworks. Stayed at home last night while the hubs went out to blow crap up.

    • simplyshaka July 5, 2011 at 11:57 pm #

That’s the way to do it, after awhile I went inside and watched Family Guy, it was great!

OMG i love that dog’s life vest!!! Super cute!!
I only have decaf at my house. Just kidding, I wouldn’t do that to you (or me…I know you get without caffeine…lol). Can’t wait to hang!!

    • simplyshaka July 5, 2011 at 11:58 pm #

Happy 4 July! I’m really glad I don’t like the taste of coffee as it’s so addictive. I’m quite lame – my vice is probably drinking Coke 🙂

  14. diana@mymarblerye July 6, 2011 at 8:47 am #

bahahhahaha it’s true all fireworks are the same. Anyways, SWEETS are my vice. I can’t say no to a tub of icecream!

  15. Katie H July 6, 2011 at 9:03 am #

Macy is the cutest little thing!

Yikes, decaf? Right now it is holding me over bc it has to (I need that coffee flava!). I only had about two cups in the morning so I just weaned myself off slowly. Going cold turkey will just make you a moody beach.

  16. Juju July 6, 2011 at 3:26 pm #

Oh hell no! She served you decaf!! The nerve of your friend!! hahahaha I’m sure she had no idea, but I would of given my friend a lot of lip, if that happened to me, so I know how you feel girl! My hubby and friends know not to talk to me before having my coffee. I will give you the death stare! –_–
