Behind the times

7 May

Hello all! My trip plans were delayed for one day due to my lack of sleep on Friday night. I finally got some rest early Saturday morning but woke up late and decided to leave for Florida today. I was dragging for the first few hours Saturday morning and went to the gym to wake up. I did 25 minutes walking on the treadmill with an incline ranging from -3 to 6, did lower body strength training then a cool down of 5 minutes on the elliptical. Unfortunately, it didn’t help me too much in the waking up department.

I met up with some friends to see Something Borrowed in the afternoon which was perfect since the movie theater was near Dean & Deluca.

I needed a major dose of java so I got an iced coffee and went around the store trying out their free samples. I could dine off of their free samples alone since they offer bruschetta, creamy artichoke dip, hot raspberry preserves over cream cheese and other goodies.

Something Borrowed was cute. As always, the book was better and there were a few changes in the movie but I enjoyed it. And I now have a crush on John Krasinski, unlike others who fell in love with him on The Office. I am behind the times what can I say?

Another way I’m behind the times? In regards to books. I found these two titles at the library today and am excited to read them, especially since I’ll be putting in some beach time this next week!

Which one should I read first??

Fro-yo was enjoyed right after the movie. I got the mini at Pinkberry since their fro-yo seems to be more expensive that other places. I am all about the self serve fro-yo places that allow you to choose the size, adds ins and weigh it for price as opposed to a set size

After running some errands, I stopped by Harris Teeter to pick up something to eat. I went to the Harris Teeter referred to as the Taj MaTeeter by many since it’s the mothership and has just about everything there—sub station, pasta bar, pizza stone, hot bar, olive bar, Starbucks, etc. I was in complete overload of what to get to eat! I started talking with the sub girl about how I had no clue what to get and she told me since she loved my girl earrings and liked my fashion sense, I could get any of the six inch subs for $3.49, works for me!

I went with the chicken breast sub because it is heaven on a roll and little Lincoln got to enjoy some of the chicken since she hooked me up!

I’m not a huge movie girl but after seeing the previews in the theater, I cannot wait to see these two movies this summer

Crazy Stupid Love

All I need in life is a little Ryan Gosling, homeboy just keeps getting better with age!

Any movies you’re looking forward to seeing this summer?

Loved Girl with a Dragon Tattoo and all of the books! Read that one first! Never read Twilight-just not my thing really.

So jealous you got pinkberry. Delicious! What is wrong with my home state that we don’t have frozen yogurt places on every corner like Florida does?

Dying to see Something Borrowed! I thought the book was adorable! Also dying to see Friends with Benefits and Crazy Stupid Love! Who doesn’t need more Ryan Gosling in their life??
My vote is Twilight. Mostly because you can read it in a few hours.
I’m so out of the movie loop! Can’t wait to get back to where movies are in English 🙂

I can’t wait for Hangover 2 and Deathly Hallows 2. I very rarely get to the movies anymore! But I feel as though friends with benefits was just a movie with ashton kutcher and natalie portman, no?

I’m totally looking forward to seeing “Something Borrowed.” It looks so cute! I actually own the book, though I never finished reading it. Hope you have fun in FL! Will you be gone all week? I’ve been such a slacker about getting in touch with you, but I actually have this whole week off before starting my new job next week so I was hoping we’d get a chance to finally get together. Either way, we will definitely make it happen soon! 😉

I’m so upset about no longer having a crush on Ryan Gosling. 😦 LOVED him until I had a neighbor who looked like him. This wasn’t a problem, but the dude was kind of into himself and a bit of a creepster. Ryan will never be the same…

You should read Twilight first obviously. Set aside a day to do nothing else though, because it sucks you in like nothing else. When I finally got around to reading the series, I finished all four books in a WEEK. Yah I’m crazy like that.

Oh and Ryan Gosling makes me think dirty dirty thoughts. Swoon.

    • simplyshaka May 10, 2011 at 3:10 pm #

Dirty dirty! I think twilight is going to be my guilty pleasure beach read.

I would say read Twilight first! 🙂 Loved those books! And I want to see those two movies also…they look awesome!

  14. Monique May 9, 2011 at 11:42 am #

DUDE two stellar books! I think you should read dragon tatoo first and THEN twilight- twilight was my fave of the two….
I saw something borrowed and really liked the movie. Holy shake shack mentions indeed- i leaned over to my mother and said NO WAY DUDE! IF I ATE AT THE SHACK THAT MUCH I WOULD NEED TWO SEATS! lol.
of course the book was better but the nuance was there and i loved it.

    • simplyshaka May 10, 2011 at 3:13 pm #

Ugh I know screw you Hollywood and false pretenses of what people look like if they were to eat that much Shake shack!

Crazy Stupid Love looks so good! (plus who can say no to Justin Timberlake?) I never see movies in theaters haha but I love those $1/night rental boxes

    • simplyshaka May 10, 2011 at 3:07 pm #

I wish I was a big JT fan but I just can’t get into him. I heart redbox…I only go to theaters to see matinees!

  16. According to Gus May 9, 2011 at 2:44 pm #

I’m with you on Ryan Gosling – so dreamy!

Glad you decided to delay your trip a day. Driving while sleepy is probably not a good idea. 😉

  17. Katie H May 9, 2011 at 4:09 pm #

Ohhh I can’t wait to see both of those movies too! They look awesome. I loved something borrowed- John Krasinki is amazing. You are behind the times, it’s okay though 😉

Regarding the books- I would say it depends on the mood you are in. Twilight is light and easy to get through. I liked both series though!

150 pages into Girl with A Dragon Tatoo and I was still bored. I’m told it’s super awesome after you’re halfway through.

    • simplyshaka May 16, 2011 at 2:39 pm #

I wasn’t a huge fan at first but now I’m really starting to get into it, I’m around page 230.
