So, there is something sitting in my kitchen that I’ve bee trying to come to terms with: Nutella.
My sister sent me a jar of Nutella back in February with a note that said “Trust me, you’ll thank me for this” and I just scoffed at the note thinking how crazy she was (and wondering what her ulterior motive was for sending me a jar) How would hazelnut spread change my life? I’ve seen it many times in the blog world about how people are ga-ga for Nutella and how it’s the best thing since sliced bread but I was skeptical since I am not a huge peanut butter fan. On the flip side though, huge fan of the chocolate and hazelnuts.
So, what’s an emotional eating girl who is trying to lose weight do with a full jar of Nutella? Bake brownies with it of course! I had a bbq to go to and instead of bringing my stand by of a six pack of beer, I would do a 180 and bring dessert. I stumbled upon this recipe for Nutella brownies that I saw on Hungry Meets Healthy originally from Chocolate & Carrots featuring only three ingredients : Nutella, eggs and flour.
One last picture with Nutella before we part ways
Now I’ve tried Nutella once or twice before but I don’t remember when exactly. So I took a little spoonful before I got to cooking to see if it was indeed, all that and a bag of chips
The verdict?
Love, indeed. Good thing this jar of Nutella was going to be destroyed in an hour.
I stuck to the original recipe however I also added 1/4 cup chocolate chips (they are like Nutella-something I do not need sitting around in my kitchen) and 1 tbsp cinnamon
I let bake for 20 minutes and attempted to clean my kitchen in the meantime
Sadly, the after picture isn’t much different. Oh, how I long for a bigger kitchen. Who am I kidding, I just want a kitchen with some counter space. I would take just one full countertop at this point.
Shortly after, my little furry friend made an appearance. I guess he smelled the wonderful aroma of Nutella making it’s way through the house?
They were finally done!
Naturally I had to try one or two to make sure they were acceptable, I didn’t want to bring bunk brownies to the bbq. They turned out pretty great….this coming from the girl who cannot make a decent batch of brownies to save her life, of course! They were rich and I like the hint of cinnamon in them but I think I would only be able to down two at the most since they are so rich. They were perfect on their own and would be fabulous crumbled over Greek yogurt or served with ice cream!

Is there a food that you’re unable to resist and can’t keep in your kitchen?
Whoa, those look out of control good! My hubby LOVES Nutella. I need to make those for him!
They were amazing and super quick to make!
I can’t keep sweets of any kind in my house, no matter what, I will eat them, even if I don’t really like them. I’m fairly safe around ice cream though and keep it on hand for my boyfriend, but that’s it. I love nutella. It makes a great oatmeal mix in 😉
I wish I would’ve saved some to try it on oats. Well, there will be other jars of Nutella.
I can’t keep ice cream around because a pint is one serving size in my world. If I buy the portioned out sizes I’m good but the only time you will every find something bigger than there is if I’m size (it’s my comfort “food”)
Never been a huge fan but those brownies may change my mind 🙂
Yes, they would! 🙂
Those look delicious! I love Nutella on toast in the mornings when I want a sweet breakfast.
Nutella is not something I eat often. Like you, I’ve had it before… but am not completely gaga over it or anything.
Way to find a good use for it!
Nutella is definitely one of those wonder jars of mouth sex. Gotta love it!
I have heard about these brownies and am now fully intrigued!
I cant have fresh bread in the house… it has to stay in the freezer. I just munch and munch on the stuff!
I am the same way with bread. If it’s freah and in the open, it be gone!
OMG – I knew I should have waited until after my appt to read your post! I’m headed to get blood work done and haven’t eaten since last night. Your cupcakes look delish!!
Sorry! Hope everything went well!
Those look amazing! As you know, I’m obsessed with Nutella. Italy and its plethora of nutella everywhere is not helping. My roommate bought a jar for his gf when she was visiting, she ate like 2 servings of it and left the rest. I proceeded to eat the rest in about 3 days…
Eh, it happens.
You only live once right? I like to think of it as contributing to getting it out of the house.
I know this will be a shock, but I’ve never had Nutella (gasp!) My gut can’t tolerate PB, but I do love sunbutter to the point of daily consumption.
Nutella sounds good in theory, but I’m not that big on chocolate, so I would prefer your dog. Much like sunbutter, I would like to enjoy him in small batches on a daily basis and then return it to it’s home.
If that can be arranged, it would be most appreciated. 😉
It possibly can, mama needs a break from the fur baby. He has been very needy as of late and may have a little separation anxienty though….
I love Nutella! It’s just so eat eaten from the jar with a spoon!
Those looks magnificent. I’m in love. I have loved Nutella for quite a while. I use it on pretty much everything. I use it on toast, on top of oats, on top of a spoon. 🙂
Thank you for sharing a link to that recipe. I adore Nutella and brownies. Put the 2 together for only 3 ingredient goods? Yes!!! These have moved to the TOP of my list of things to bring to get togethers now. Or maybe I should make some sooner for my mommy for Mother’s Day. Ohhhh….
I think you should try them soon! Mothers Day wknd is a perfect opportunity to try them out 🙂
I can usually finish my nutella jar in 5 minutes when drunk. It is a gift.
Maybe I can do something with nutella when I’m sober..b/c that looks great.
Baller!
I LOVE making nutella dip. all you need is cream cheese (or strawberry!) ..and I use fat free… splenda, nutella, and a splash of milk all whipped together! it’s so good with apples, marshmallows, pretzels… etc.

Hmm food I can’t resist… can’t remember any now, but unfortunately for me my boyfriend can NOT stay away from an open bag of raisins, hehe 🙂
haha, just sharing! Raisins sound really good right about now!
I love nutella!! I cant keep it in the house though…too delcious!
I first learned about Nutella from Giada on Everyday Italian.. she is a Nutella freak! 🙂 I used to just eat it straight from the jar with a spoon! Soo good… your brownies look delish! I was sad the day when I looked at the jar and saw that it had dairy in it… so no Nutella for this vegan. 😦 But I still have the memories! 😛
goodness. those look amazing. i would have had to try the whole batch.
ahhhh you have become a nut for nutella!!! love it… i like my nutella cookies of any kind… and thanks for the link for that sweepstakes… i have never wanted to win a contest more haha sad… but true…
