Comfort me, hold me

2 Mar

A few things gave me great comfort today after a horrible day at work

* Pringles coated fried chicken bit dinner

I remember seeing this recipe in the Hungry Girl cookbook and was too lazy to look the recipe (much less find where the cookbook is in my house) but it turned out fantastic. I coated them in BBQ Pringles, fried those bad boys up and paired with Steamfresh veggies for a simple dinner

The best part was the cheese sauce seeped over to the chicken–cheese covered fried chicken? Can we say bring it??

*New additions to the workout playlist

(this is my favorite Strokes song of all time-why was it not on my playlist?)

*A great workout

I did 40 minutes on the Precor elliptical doing an interval session. What didn’t comfort me? While watching Sex and The City on E! the very young girl on the machine next to me asked if I was watching Gossip Girl. I shit you not, a little piece of my heart died when she asked me that. Afterwards I did the leg press (240 lbs), hip abduction (110 lbs), hip adduction (140 lbs) and leg extensions (80 lbs)

*Beautiful green monster with kale, coconut milk and Spirutein Blueberries N Cream protein powder

*Lincoln

Seriously, how could someone NOT love this dog?

*You guys

Yeah you. Thanks for everyone on the props on yesterday’s post regarding my goals. I can’t say how much I appreciate the kind words and support. Checking my email every day and  seeing supportive and funny comments is one of the highlights of my day– you all rock!

What gave you comfort  today?

That Gossip Girl comment would have broken my heart too. Sex & the City is one of my greatest shows ever.

That green monster looks so good! I need to get unlazy and make some more often. Our blender is such a pain to clean!

Sex in the City is way more clever than Gossip Girl and its crazy fast-paced drama! My Linkers gives me comfort. I’m telling you, your Linx looks like a Meerkat!!

  7. Kristen @ That Hoosier Girl March 3, 2011 at 7:33 am #

I love SATC…and have never even seen Gossip Girl. I feel old.

I think Lincoln and Jenny would be best friends – they have the same poses and even look a bit alike! 🙂

I sort of love that Sex and the City is on E! now. Even though I’ve seen each (edited) episode a million times on wgn or tbs, I’ll still watch every time I see it’s on. Loyalty…

I need some BBQ chips now…

Sigh…kids today know nothing. I make Saved By the Bell references all the time that my students don’t get…ugh.

Ugh! Sorry about the rough day at work! I always feel like a good workout helps me, too!

I would have never thought to do the Pringles thing, but it looks great!

Hello beautiful chicken bits…you are delicious!!! I need those in my life like yesterday!
I said something to this girl at church on sunday about Friends and she looked at me like I was stupid. She said she was “too young” to know about Friends. WTF?!

Oh that dog is too much! I love adding new songs to my workout play list. I want to start doing interval training on the treadmill … any recs for programs?

  17. leashieloo March 3, 2011 at 4:44 pm #

I could totally go for a plate of that! I also had an extra crummy day (what is UP with this week!?). I’m still debating on what I want for dinner. I think I want something coated in Pringles now…

  18. OliePants March 3, 2011 at 5:26 pm #

Ummm Lincoln is freaking adorable! I have yet to try Spirutein – I see it at the natural grocers I go too and never pick it up. I hear it has great vitamins and all that good stuff. PS Way to always bring it back with the music choices! 🙂

  19. This Italian Family March 3, 2011 at 7:38 pm #

Pringles coated fried chicken?!? Oh my gracious, I wouldn’t be able to stop eating that until I was stuffed. I have a terrible habit of eating half a can of Pringles without even realizing it. That’s why I never keep them in the house, haha! Look sooo good!

    • This Italian Family March 3, 2011 at 7:39 pm #

      *looks 😉

  20. Kace March 3, 2011 at 9:24 pm #

I had Kraft mac and cheese for dinner. From the blue box. Total comfort!

  21. TheSceneFromMe March 3, 2011 at 9:54 pm #

Dang girl, that is some serious weight you are lifting. I do 70-85 lbs on the hip ab and adductor ones. Guess I need to step up my game. But I fear I will get bigger legs than I have now.

  22. Kelly Olexa March 4, 2011 at 12:00 am #

OMG You brought it old school style with Da Butt!! I LOVE IT!! And I would have had the same reaction to the Gossip Girl question hahaha!! You are precious and the dog is a cupcake. I can’t wait to meet that little bunch of cuteness someday.I know it will be. I KNOW!! 😉

  23. Euniece March 4, 2011 at 8:41 am #

heck yes for fried chicken! heck yes for fried anything :X !! and what comforts me, hmm well today starts my first official day of spring break from college so waking up in my noisy house with my brother and sister running around at 6:30 am sounds more than comforting, it sounds like home! 🙂

  24. Natalie @ Will Jog For Food March 4, 2011 at 8:55 am #

    Lincoln is SO freakin cute!

Your dinner looks good! What can be better than chicken coated in chips??

  25. Katie H. March 4, 2011 at 4:55 pm #

I just want to hug Lincoln! That chicken looks really good and I don’t even eat chicken. I can’t believe some young chick confused gossip girl with SATC. I totes feel old now too, hahah
