Frugal Friday–Deals, deals and more deals

25 Feb

Hey everyone–happy frickin Friday! Why does it seem like when I have a short week, it goes so much slower than a normal week? Maybe I am the only one like this? Who knows, it sucks so I’m stoked Friday is here! Thanks everyone for putting in your two cents on how you keep things organized–I got alot of good tips and ideas out of it!

Some of my deals from this past week….

*Chick Fil A yogurt parfait +Dasani water for free thanks to my snazzy Chick Fil A calendar

It was a good size but I was expecting more than just one fruit, like some blueberries as well

And I finally got a chance to check out their new ketchup packaging!

I had to snag some for the road

Also, be sure to check out Chick Fil A’s Fry Day next Friday March 4th!

*Free dog treats

Ok, so Lincoln barks his non existent balls off anytime someone is near my front door or knocks on it. And I guess this applies to when my mailman/woman visits each day. He or she puts dog treats on top of my mailbox for Lincoln since I guess they can hear him everyday. At first I had no clue what these were and naturally thought I had a stalker since I am so awesome but I finally took one, sniffed it and realized they were dog treats. How sweet is that?

*Double coupons at Harris Teeter

I found the following:

Silk Pure Almond Milk – $.50

Minute  Brown Rice-$.55

Yo Crunch Fruit Parfait-free!

These are yummy but so tiny they end up being only four spoonfuls

*Sabra Hummus-$2

Athenos Greek Yogurt-$.65 each

Two packs of chicken breasts $7.88

Old El Paso tortillas $1

*Free dinner from Earthfare

I signed up for Earthfare’s email club and got this free dinner coupon. You spend $10 and you get a bag of baby carrots, mashed potatoes and either whole chicken or veggie burgers for free!

I spent $12 on the following

Vegan nuggets

Carolina Slaw

Bigelow White Chocolate Kisses hot tea

Yogi Bar

then got all of this for free

The vegan nuggets were absolutely terrific–just like chicken taste and consistency wise-win!

This was a fantastic value and worked out to about four to five meals!

What deals have you found this week?

I have looked EVERYWHERE for that tea and still no luck! I’ve been on the hunt for the strawberry shortcake Dunkin’ Donuts coffee too. Darn Midwest.

I’m in love with Chik-fil-a’s ketchup packets too – I actually thought to myself, “I wonder how much money they’re losing from people like me taking MORE rather than less because they’re fun.” haha

    • simplyshaka February 26, 2011 at 10:53 pm #

For real? I see the strawberry shortcake coffee at WalMart all the time–let me know if you want to pay me and I will buy you some 🙂 How is it btw? I like strawberry and love coffee but the two together sound kinda funky.

Score on the chicken breasts! I have the worst time finding a good sale on meat…

My deals of the week came from the Target clearance. I got a bag of butterscotch chips for 78 cents! My baking supplies are definitely building…should probably do something about that soon…

    • simplyshaka February 26, 2011 at 10:54 pm #

Thats super cheap-you go girl! I refuse to buy meat unless I find a good deal like that–it’s just too expensive these days.

Awww, that is SO sweet that your mailman leaves dog treats for your pup!!! Haha, I think our mailman HATES our dogs– they throw themselves at the door whenever he comes, so I guess I don’t blame him.

    Happy Friday, girl!

    • simplyshaka February 26, 2011 at 10:56 pm #

I was just happy to see that the berries weren’t very expensive at the store, so I bought blackberries, strawberries and blueberries. Now I need a good smoothie or cobbler recipe for them!

Wha?! Look at all the deals you got! The only thing I got on sale was a double pack of gloves from target- turned out to be $.75 per pair. Other than that, my normal spending on food.

Let me know how that tea is- it looks delightful!

    • simplyshaka February 26, 2011 at 10:58 pm #

Wow—$.75? That is fantastic! When I see that, I stock up! Will definitely do on the tea, I can’t wait to try it.

  15. Amanda February 25, 2011 at 8:11 pm #

dude GO YOU!!! And for real, you need to try Silk Coconut milk. It was life changing. I am not vegan or vegetarian or anything, but I probably will never have any other kind of milk in my life ever again. It’s amazing, really, try it 🙂

  17. lookingupwhileslimmingdown February 26, 2011 at 9:39 am #

    • simplyshaka February 26, 2011 at 10:59 pm #

Next time I am up-lets do it! I used a lot of couple that doubled to get it for free or used the coupons I get when checking out. The Yo Crunch was for a free four pack so boo ya!

  18. Alyssa February 26, 2011 at 12:44 pm #

I’ve never seen that version of hummus – spicaaay! I’m so intrigued. must try soon. 🙂

    • simplyshaka February 26, 2011 at 11:01 pm #
