Creamy

13 Feb

Doesn’t the word creamy just sound dirty sometimes?

I think  my inspiration for meals this weekend has been because I’ve had this song in my head the past few days

Unfortunately, nothing too saucy like that going on here but that’s a different post for another time.

Creamy described my dinner last night. I was out and about the entire day running errands and such and when I got home, I was in the mood for something quick and warm.

I put some chicken with wing sauce and water in the crock pot when I left in the morning and when I got home, the smell of chicken was in the air. I took out and pulled apart and store for use this upcoming week.

I took some chicken, cream cheese, shredded cheese, red onion, Cholula, garlic and black pepper and mixed together in a bowl

To make chicken enchilada quesadillas

I needed all that creamy, warm yummy goodness because it was time to do my taxes thanks to Turbo Tax. I’ve used H&R Block online the past few years but this year, they changed the format and just seemed more difficult to navigate through this year as opposed to less. And H&R Block was trying to give me $350 less back than what Turbo Tax gave me so yeah, I’m officially a Turbo Tax girl now.

I also watched The Town

I’m still conflicted if I liked it or not. I feel like it ended with some loose ends that I thought would be wrapped up but never were. Lincoln felt a little conflicted as well but at least he was warm

Anyone else see it-thoughts?

I slept in until 10A this morning which is pretty much unheard of, I love sleeping in!! I’ve been sleeping in more and more on the weekends which is wonderful since I tend to wake up at 4 or 5A and then have nothing to do for a few hours. I made a breakfast wrap grabbed some coffee to go and was on my way out the door!

The mission for this morning was to find a new bed frame. I thought all the bed frame drama was done with after last weekend but it broke again. And I really don’t feel like fixing it every week because that is going to get annoying very quickly plus I am frugal but not so frugal that I won’t buy a new one. But then again, if I end up moving to a different city this year, I most likely won’t take my furniture with me so if I were to buy a new one it would be a waste of money. I checked out a few thrift stores this morning and found nothing, went to the Sears Outlet and all they had was California King frames and went to Value City Furniture and they don’t carry any full mattress frames. I may have a gentleman friend coming into town next month and I am really going to look like a hooker if I have a broken bed. Ugh.

I met up with a friend at the gym afterwards. I’m finally starting to feel better again and had enough energy to work out and we killed it! I did 40 minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the bike then did various upper body exercises

Can I get a hell yeah??!

And can I get a hot tub?!

Speaking of hot tubs….kinda…..my friend and I went into the sauna after our work to sweat everything we didn’t sweat out out. I am all for being comfortable with your body but what is up with the 60+ year old crowd flaunting what they got? I am talking boobs down to the knees, it was very uncomfortable trying not to stare at that since I fear I’m going to be like that one day. I loathe you gravity.

Instead of going for protein packed smoothies, we chose to go for $2 mimosas instead

Look at how big they are! Plus, they weren’t shy with the bubbly and only $2. I could’ve had at least six more with how smooth they were and hello-cheap but we settled on two a piece. This is going to be dangerous for future Sundays, I love mimosas and I love getting my vitamin C in along with booze!

Creamy was the word for dinner again tonight. I made stuffed mushrooms yet again but this time I stuffed with spinach dip!

I saved the stems to use this week, I have no clue how I will use them but I figure I can chop up and cook and add to rice, pasta, etc.

Let the mushrooms marinate in extra virgin olive oil

I mixed thawed frozen spinach, parsley, cream cheese, shredded mozzarella and spike seasoning in a bowl

Then stuffed, lined up on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes

They turned out even better than the last batch!

I know it’s not Frugal Friday but if you have an Earthfare near you, sign up  to get a free dinner with a $10 purchase!

Are you watching the Grammys? I had no clue it was on but feel like I know what’s going on thanks to the Twitter. And what the hell is up with Gaga–she arrived in an egg or something?

Aaaahhh! Every time I see that commercial, I giggle. Can I get a hot tub?!?!

Sorry you weren’t as big into The Town as I was. Maybe I just liked that they left you wondering at the end? Rarely do I enjoy that, but it sort of worked…

Creamy is a gross word for me. It’s right up there with “moist”. Ew.

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 10:26 pm #

And creamy and moist together equals nastiness!

  2. christina February 13, 2011 at 10:49 pm #

*creamy is a gross word. yes.
*i watched the town on thursday. i liked it because it kept me entertained. those masks are gross/scary.
*umm yeah there are some freaky naked ladies at my gym too. like put a shirt on please!
*i just put on the grammys because of twitter feeds popping up. barbara streisand is on right now, wearing something very very large and strange.

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 10:26 pm #

I couldnt stop staring at the masks, I think the old man nuns were my favorite disguise.

I really want a hot tub! I was spoiled enough to grow up with one in south FL but now i’m fureeeezing in NC with no pool or hot tub or fun. boo!!

Now I want mushrooms, 2 dolla mimosas AND a hot tub =) hehe

    • simplyshaka February 13, 2011 at 11:29 pm #

I hear ya sister—where in South FL are you from? I grew up in Boca Raton!

I liked The Town! Those mushrooms look SO good.

  5. Kristen @ That Hoosier Girl February 14, 2011 at 7:36 am #

Those $2 mimosas should make it on Frugal Friday too! I didn’t know the Grammy’s were on! Apparently I live under a rock. I’ll have to scope out People.com to catch up 🙂

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:15 pm #

I completely forgot but saw so many tweets about it and then was like “ahhhhhh” so I didn’t turn it on and just stayed in the loop via twitter and facebook!

  6. dianacheung February 14, 2011 at 7:45 am #

i haven’t worked out in days…so lazy. I guess working weekends is an excuse to pig out on chocolate and be lazy. Anyways, I love yo creamy self!!! You make the best bar food at home…I haven’t seen the town and I actually wanna! but G saw it

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:14 pm #

Get it, I think they have it on Redbox and I got mine on Netflix. It was enjoyable but the ending left me unsatisfied.

  7. Elin @andserenitytoo February 14, 2011 at 8:11 am #

Oh no, Ikea still failing… good luck with the bed 😉
    Those mushrooms look really good!

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:13 pm #

Thanks, I have a feeling it’s only going to go downhill….

  8. Carly February 14, 2011 at 9:38 am #

Dang girl, you are a workout machine! Ha, I need to start looking at you for motivation!

Um and also, Lady Gaga, uh no thanks. I used to really like her, but the harder she tries the more she pisses me off. Ugh!

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:13 pm #

I used to hate her then I warmed up to her but now her crazy antics just turn me off, blah.

  9. Kace February 14, 2011 at 9:50 am #

Wasn’t a fan of the town. Thought it was a ripoff of The Departed, which is one of my favorites!

I had the same justification for my mimosa binge; but think of all the vitamin c im getting!

Grammys–Cee Lo green got ROBBED. I hate that stupid lady antebellum song, but F You was easily the best song of the year. And the egg…whatevs. I love her music so I just ignore the craziness.

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:11 pm #

I don’t know what the F You song is–I need to youtube it. I’m so not into hip hop anymore, I need people to tell me who “sings” what.

I thought it was similar to the Departed as well. Both movies make me never want to visit Boston though, I feel like I am going to friend someone who is a rat and then I will have a bullet in the back of my head.

  10. Erin February 14, 2011 at 10:13 am #

Creamy is as gross as panties and moist. Eww.

I was a little torn on The Town too. I watched the Fenway part being filmed for a few weeks so I’m drawn to it, but I thought the ending could have been done a bit better.

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:09 pm #

And what about all three of those together!???!! Bahahahahahahahahaha.

Exactly, the movie itself was good but just the ending left me thinking um, is there going to be a sequel called The City or the Parish?

  11. thefitacademic February 14, 2011 at 10:43 am #

Oh Buddy! Holla for the $2 mimosas! Yum! Excellent choice! : )

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:08 pm #

I know, I fear it will be my new post workout spot on Sundays!

  12. Brittney February 14, 2011 at 12:07 pm #

I took advantage of that Earthfare deal too!

  13. Stephanie February 14, 2011 at 12:13 pm #

You had me at shredded chicken and mushrooms. 🙂

Your eats look sooo good! I didn’t watch the Grammy’s. Gaga.is.whack. I just don’t get it. I get weirdness…I just don’t get her version I guess??

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:07 pm #

I’m all for weirdness but I feel like she is doing it just for the sake of being weird and wanting a reaction. I’m over her!

  14. Mindy@FindingSilverLinings February 14, 2011 at 12:35 pm #

LOL! Doesn’t it sound dirty! HAHAHAH! Great.

Uh, so, yeah, your enchiladas look dope!

And The Town was surprisingly good. I was liking it and wasn’t expecting to. I usually don’t like good guy/ bad guy movies.

Hot tubs are the bomb! We got lucky and when we bought our house, it came with a giant one on our back deck. They cost tres $$ to run them, but are sooo worth it after a weekend of skiing or a crappy day at work with a glass of wine. If you get the chance, splurge on one. It won’t disappoint.

    xo
    Mindy

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:06 pm #

      Party at your house—haaaaaay!

I liked it but I’m still torn if I liked the ending or not. I hate when they don’t wrap anything up but I enjoyed the movie all the way through, I was on the edde of my seat….or couch.

  15. Monique February 14, 2011 at 2:37 pm #

i totally missed the grammys (fail) and i hate myself for it.
    I love the mushroom caps!
and diva- get thee a new bed stat! you can always sell it when you are done with it. And in NY we dont advise shopping for used bed. 😦 in fact, its highly frowned upon thanks to our tiny bed time pests. boooo

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:05 pm #

Ew gross, I don’t mean used mattress, I meant used bed frame. If I bought a used mattress I would go all CSI on their ass and bring a black light contraption with me!!

  16. bigcitybabycarrots February 14, 2011 at 3:48 pm #

I need to get on my taxes! I used Turbo Tax last year.

  17. Karla February 14, 2011 at 4:07 pm #

    1. When I saw the words creamy and song I thought you were going to refer to Ice Cream Paintjob… in case you weren’t sure about which one… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yfArN-e2OU

    2. I think I liked The Town because I love Ben Affleck.

    3. No Grammy’s for me 😦 No TV 😦 😦 😦

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:04 pm #

I’ve never heard of Dorrough but I am sitting here bouncing to that song. I like!

Um, how effin hot was Affleck in that movie?? Ay papi dame mas!

  18. According to Gus February 14, 2011 at 4:16 pm #

Lincoln had the right idea…all snuggled up!

Spinach dip + mushrooms = best idea ever!

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:02 pm #

He looks so comfortable when he does, I wish I could be that cozy!

  19. emily (a nutritionist eats) February 14, 2011 at 5:20 pm #

Great. Now I want your creamy chix enchilada quesadillas instead of the chili I have made. 😦

    • simplyshaka February 14, 2011 at 7:01 pm #

Sorry! But if it’s any consolation–chili sounds mighty fine right now.

  20. TheSceneFromMe February 14, 2011 at 9:26 pm #

Hahaha! Gaga was getting in to the rhythm of her new song “Born This Way.” That’s why she hatched from an egg. I have the Grammy’s on DVR and will watch it on my next day off!
